Technical Support Specialist (m/f)

Bitsafe is the new name for Freenom and Verotel, two disruptive brands in the transactional online business space. Freenom is the world's second largest domain registration provider with over 35 million active internet domains registered. Verotel is a registered Electronic Money Institution processing millions of credit card transactions. Bitsafe brings these two brands together into a new service: a Bitsafe Basic Payment Account. Offering a “discreet account”, Bitsafe provides a Bitsafe IBAN, allowing account holders to take part of SEPA transactions and hold domain names and other digital assets. Purchases and ATM withdrawals can be made with the Bitsafe Debit Card.

We are currently seeking to hire a Technical Support Specialist to assist with both the Verotel and Freenom brand. As Technical Support Specialist you will be helping merchants install scripts and software allowing Verotel to process payments for these merchants. This is done by installing a Perl or PHP script (Verotel Remote User Manager) on the merchant's server or by implementing Verotel's FlexPay API. In this position, you will be exposed to adult material. This means that you need to feel comfortable interacting with the people who run those websites.

As a Technical Support Specialist you will be also assisting Bitsafe's customer support team. Your tasks will be to solve the more complicated issues that cannot be resolved by the first line of support. These issues are mostly centered on domain names and DNS. It would be great if you already have knowledge of DNS, the various DNS record types, configuration of name servers and domains and the domain industry as a whole.

The successful applicant will be a good communicator, is technical savvy and has some working knowledge of domains and DNS. Business language is English, but our clients are located worldwide so additional languages are a plus. Are you excited to solve different kinds of puzzles that need solving on a daily basis (either logical or programmatic) and are you versed in at least two programming or scripting languages? Your responsibilities will be:

  • Handle technical support requests for both Verotel and Freenom (2nd line of support) through our ticketing systems;

  • Solve any domain name and DNS issues that cannot be resolved by the 1st line of support;

  • Communicate with merchants regarding their technical integration;

  • Install the Verotel Remote User Manager script(s) and/or help with the Verotel FlexPay API integration;

  • Test domain configuration (Freenom) and merchant's implementations (Verotel);

  • Monitor the active installations and fix reported errors.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a university degree or university level;

  • Has a strong knowledge about server side scripting and various types of APIs;

  • Knows and breathes at least two programming languages such as Perl, PHP, Python or others;

  • Is comfortable dealing with adult content;

  • Speaks excellent English.

Bonus points for:

  • MBA or Masters degree;

  • Experience in the online, payment, hosting or domain name industry.
